Botox® is a non-surgical injection that is popularly used to temporarily reduce or eliminate frown lines, forehead creases, crow’s feet and thick folds in the neck.
Botox® works by blocking nerve impulses, which temporarily paralyzes wrinkle-causing muscles, creating a fresher, smoother appearance to the skin. It also blocks the nerve impulse that triggers muscle hyperactivity. Excessive sweating is another problem for which Botox® is an effective treatment.
Each treatment generally lasts up to 6 months, at which point further injections may be used as long as you are responding to treatment.
In the past, the usual remedies for unwanted hair included plucking, shaving, waxing or chemical depilatories. Some are painful, some are messy and all are temporary. For long-term hair removal, electrolysis is popular and effective, but it is a time-consuming procedure that can be painful and is only useful in removing hair in small areas. During electrolysis, an electric current passes through a needle to destroy each individual hair root. It typically takes months and numerous regular visits to clear even small areas like the upper lip.
Laser hair removal is a more effective solution. The LightSheer diode laser is a state-of-the-art system specifically designed to remove unwanted hair faster, with less discomfort and more reliably than other methods.
A laser produces a beam of highly concentrated light. The light emitted by the LightSheer diode laser is well absorbed by the pigment located in hair follicles. During the procedure, the laser pulses for a fraction of a second, long enough to heat up the hair and significantly impede the follicle’s ability to grow. Therefore, LightSheer is appropriate for treating even the largest areas of the body both quickly and effectively.
The Vitalize (chemical) Peel® involves the use of solutions such as alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) to temporarily improve and smooth the texture of skin by removing its damaged outer layers. AHAs, such as glycolic or fruit acids, can be used on specific body regions but is most common in helping those with acne scarring, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation. Chemical peels can also be used to treat areas of dry skin and even to control acne.
Microdermabrasion is a skin-refinishing technique that helps repair aged and sun-damaged skin, improve the look of scars and blemishes, smooth thick surface irregularities and treat hyperpigmentation.
A spray of fine mineral crystals is spread across the treatment area; the mist, a gentle abrasive, is used in conjunction with a suction device to remove the dead, outer layer of skin. This is a convenient option, as there is minimal discomfort and no healing time. As with other skin rejuvenation techniques, more than one treatment may be needed to reduce or remove fine wrinkles, scarring and unwanted pigmentation.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Laser Skin Care is a versatile method of treating a number of skin problems. This laser procedure is most commonly used to remove layers of damaged or wrinkled skin, particularly around the mouth and eyes.
Unlike injectables, which fill in facial lines, laser resurfacing strips away the outer layers of the skin to produce a smoother appearance. This procedure can be done in combination with another recontouring procedure, such as Botox® injections.
When you want to look as young as you feel, a Juvéderm® treatment may be the way to accomplish that. This non-surgical cosmetic enhancement is easy and instant. It reverses the signs of aging by smoothing wrinkles and restoring volume. It also can enhance your lips and cheeks. Made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring sugar, Juvéderm® mixes with the water in your skin to instantly smooth lines and wrinkles. The process is simple enough that you can be treated, then continue with the rest of your day.
With each passing decade, the skin on our faces undergoes texture changes, develops droopiness and loses volume. Cosmetic doctors have learned that sometimes the best approach to improving your facial appearance is to combine two proven non-surgical forms of enhancement: Botox® and Juvéderm®. When the two are combined, the process is called Soft Lift™. With this approach, Botox® treats the upper facial lines including crow’s feet and forehead lines while Juvéderm® treats the volume loss and fold in the middle and lower face.
As your face ages, sunken cheeks become more common. Juvéderm® Voluma® offers a solution. This new smooth, long-lasting filler is formulated to restore deep volume where it’s most needed – around the cheekbones and in the chin. Because the middle of the face is one of the first areas to show aging, Juvéderm® Voluma® is a great way to restore a fresher younger look. It will smooth the mid-face, fill in sunken areas around the cheeks and restore contour to the chin.
Dr. Peter Young believes in keeping up with the most recent technological advances. One of those advances is the Affirm™ Anti-Aging laser system. Affirm™ is used to treat wrinkles, scars and facial discolorations. By targeting all layers of the skin, this complete rejuvenation process provides better and faster results than similar processes.
